Job Description:

The Director of Grant Development and Administration secures grants to fulfill the College's mission and the goals of the Momentum: 2023-2028 Strategic Plan, and oversees the implementation of grant projects. Under the supervision of Dean of Academic Initiatives, the Director of Grant Development and Administration will be responsible for the following:

Campus Communication

  • Research grant opportunities, and disseminate relevant grant opportunities to campus constituents.
  • Present opportunities to colleagues and facilitate discussion regarding planning and viability.
  • Serve as a resource for faculty and staff on aspects of grant-seeking and proposal development.
  • Lead the institution in developing, revising and promulgating grants policies and procedures.

Prospect Research

  • Coordinate prospect lists with STCC Foundation to avoid duplication of solicitation and assist in the identification and preparation of prospects for major campaigns.
  • Update department website with training opportunities and recently awarded grants.
  • Find grant opportunities to fulfill the College's mission and the goals of the Strategic Plan and analyze for funding capacity and project match.

Funder Cultivation

  • Develop faculty and staff ability to build and maintain relationships with private funders.
  • Provide and facilitate professional development on cultivation techniques with corporate and foundation prospects.
  • Coordinate visits of funders to campus or campus personnel to funders' offices.

Grant Proposals

  • Work closely with faculty and staff in developing and transforming ideas into grant proposals. Organize teams and lead idea generation and proposal submission.
  • Prepare supporting documents, including MOUs and MOAs with internal and external partners.

Grants Management

  • Oversee the implementation of grant projects.
  • Provide support and direction to the Grants Compliance Manager in carrying out duties such as filing amendments, completing annual reports, applying for extensions, and working with the Business Office.
  • Oversee grant record keeping to ensure compliance with College policy and funder regulations.
  • Perform special projects and related responsibilities as requested.

Supervision

  • Supervise, collaborate with, and evaluate the Grants Development Specialist and Grants Compliance Manager.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree required. A Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education is preferred.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' experience in successfully developing grant proposals for submission in a non-profit or higher education setting.
  • Project management experience.
  • Knowledge of web-based prospect search tools, i.e. Foundation Directory Online.
  • Experience writing federal, state, and private grants, particularly in a non-profit or higher education setting.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Federal laws and guidelines for administration of Federally funded grant projects including OMB Circulars and EDGAR.
  • Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information to a wide range of audiences.
  • Ability to develop and maintain cross-functional, collaborative working relationships with administrators, faculty, and staff with academic, administrative, and other functional units on campus.
  • Fluency with quantitative and qualitative data, including the ability to use data in support of grant design and administration.
  • Ability to manage a diverse set of issues simultaneously and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-ethnic, multi-lingual environment.
  • Ability to contribute to the development of a campus-wide strategy for grants development and implementation.
  • An understanding and appreciation of the community college mission and the role of the grants office in helping the College achieve its stated mission of supporting students and transforming lives.

WORKING CONDITIONS/PYSICAL DEMANDS:

Works in an office setting. Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time. The individual needs to move about inside the office to access office machinery. Constantly operates a computer and other equipment i.e. copier. This person frequently communicates with students, faculty and staff. Must be able to exchange accurate information.

Salary: $85,000 - $90,000 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience
