Job Description:

What’s the Role

The Shell Atlantic Offshore Wind team is seeking a Sr Electrical Engineer HV that can be based in Houston, Texas, New York, NY or Trenton, New Jersey or Boston, Massachusetts. This team member will support the development of offshore wind projects, focusing on high voltage electrical engineering work for the substation, from the front-end to the execution and delivery of the project.


Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind is a 50:50 partnership between Shell New Energies US LLC and EDF Renewables North America. The joint-venture (JV) company was formed in December 2018 to co-develop a 183,353-acre lease area on the U.S. Outer Continental Shelf. The newly subdivided lease areas (OCS-A-0499 and OCS-A-0549) are located within the New Jersey Wind Energy Area. In June 2021, the JV was awarded a 20-year Offshore Renewable Energy Credit (OREC) by the New Jersey Bureau of Public Utilities for Atlantic Shores Offshore Wind Project 1, a 1,510 MW offshore wind project located within Lease OCS-A-0499 to begin construction and reach commercial operation in the mid-to-late 2020s. Additionally, in February 2022, the JV was determined to be a provisional winner of Bight Lease 0541, adding 79,351 acres to its portfolio.

Accountabilities:

  • Support the high voltage electrical engineering work for the Project during FEED, detailed design and construction

  • Support permitting effort in providing inputs and clarifications to the permitting team

  • Provide design guidance and technical verification of the high voltage electrical works, including review of employer’s requirements and technical specifications, guidance inputs for the design and construction phases

  • Actively participate in the development of the Scope of work for the RFP, in the technical review of the proposals and the selection of the main contractor

  • Interface with other technical, development, and commercial teams to ensure communication of required inputs and outputs

  • Conduct site visits during construction to ensure compliance with design, technical specifications and requirements. Ensure that the electrical works meets employer’s requirements and industry standards

  • Please Note: You must have the ability to travel every month to an Atlantic Shores or parent office for 3-5 days at a time

Skills & Requirements

  • Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis

  • Bachelor’s in engineering degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience

  • Experience with electrical substation projects and high voltage equipment

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is desirable

The base salary range for this position is $122,000.00 - $182,000.00 per year. Individual pay will be based on various factors, such as relevant work experience, education, certifications, skill level, seniority, and internal equity.

For regular full-time or regular part-time employees of the Company (participating companies as listed in the Summary Plan Description), insurance coverage options include medical, dental, vision coverage, life Insurance, Business Travel Accident Insurance, and Occupational Accidental Death Benefit programs. Additionally, employees are eligible for disability leave for up to 52 weeks at 100% or 50% of base pay. Shell also offers other compensation such financial reimbursement for adoption, wellness, education, and personal learning expenses, and some roles are eligible for discretionary long-term incentives.
