Introduction:
The Greenhouse Gas Intensity Analysis Team (GIAT) has a global role in Shell as the centre of expertise to ensure effective, efficient, consistent, and unbiased delivery of Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) on GHGs and other environmental impact factors for the Shell sectors, businesses and the Shell Group and align LCA within Shell.
The scope of the team covers providing advice to businesses and sectors on GHG intensities of products and low carbon Customer Value Propositions (CVPs), reviewing and developing LCA models and IT tools, supporting R&D in understanding the decarbonization potential of new technologies, providing technical advice and support to Policy and Advocacy, representing Shell on industry groups on LCA methodology alignment as well as working with Energy Transition Program country teams and Shell strategy on GHG accounting methodologies and GHG baselines.
We are seeking to develop capability on LCA modeling and tool development in TAO to establish longer term support to the GIAT in responding to the increasing demand by the company and from customers for LCA data and advice.
Scope of the role covers but is not limited to:
- Performing LCA and Carbon footprint calculations for dedicated product pathways and value chains following international standards and Shell approaches.
- Developing LCA tools (Excel, small IT tools with IT/DIY support) and calculation methodologies for dedicated product pathways and value chains.
- Data and technical information collection, analysis, management, and processing as basis for and input to LCA studies.
- Collecting and building sets of GHG emission factors for regions and sectors, e.g., based on regulations, publicly available sources or scientific models and own calculation.
- Gaining insights into and monitoring the space of LCA policy developments relating to GHG emissions and sustainability in dedicated regions.
- Presenting results and outcomes to stakeholders.
- Capturing results and outcomes in technical reports.
- The LCA calculations and models will focus on different products (e.g., Lubricants, Chemicals) and sectors and can change, depending on the requests by the businesses.
