What’s the role?
The role will focus on extracting value through short term speculative trading of congestion products within the Midwest ISO, leveraging both FTRs and virtual transactions. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of MISO/SPP market fundamentals and will need to demonstrate a track record of profitability and be able to effectively articulate their strategy. Additional responsibilities will include assisting the desk with management of existing physical and financial power positions, as well as helping to facilitate the pricing of deals for our retail and C&I customer business. The candidate will work closely with other traders in both gas and power as well as originators within the trading guidelines each day to maximize value add and minimize value leakage.
Responsibilities:
- Ability and a proven track record of producing $3M-$5M of P&L annually.
- Experience utilizing a production cost model, such s DAYZER, for determining power flow, congestion opportunities, and analyzing historical pricing relationships.
- Understanding of MISO/SPP operations, trading and scheduling, as well as all the natural gas pipelines in the Midcontinent and Midwest region.
- Ability to develop market views by building supply/demand forecast models.
- Willing to contribute to and ensure alignment with SENA's overall goals and strategies.
- Collaborate with functional groups within Shell Energy
What we need from you
- Must have legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or an equivalent combination of experience and education. Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
- 5 or more years of relevant experience
- Must have MISO/SPP trading experience
- Knowledge of and adherence to industry Compliance and Regulatory rules
- Thrives in a high-pressure multi-tasking environment where time sensitive tasks/projects must be consistently delivered with high quality
