The Lead Software Engineer is a part of our Product and Engineering team who are at the forefront of keeping our customers safe from attacks and breaches. In this role you will be focussed on helping our customers seamlessly manage their security solutions as effectively and efficiently as possible, and ensuring our products are delivering a secure experience. You will be working on a high impact and cross-functional team, creating end-to-end security solutions that drive customer success. You will have the opportunity to further enhance your skills surrounded by a team of incredibly smart and experienced Engineers, whilst mentoring others. Our Terraform-described stack runs in AWS, coded mostly in Java, and built over a variety of data persistence and queue technologies including SNS/SQS, S3, Kafka, ElasticSearch, Redis, MySQL-flavored RDS, Cassandra, and DynamoDB.
In this role you will:
Lead a team of talented engineers to design, implement, release, and monitor production code changes at massive scale in a continuous deployment fashion
Scopes and stages work into well-defined milestones
Act as a scrum master for the team
Mentoring and coaching team members
Collaborate with other teams within InsightIDR and products within Rapid7 to design integration touchpoints and features which span multiple development teams
Key contributor to architecture/execution of major component(s) from conception to release
What you should bring:
Experience running a team of multiple engineers
A demonstrable passion for the craft of software development
A history demonstrating a team-based approach to problem solving
Experience defining contracts for coordinating development of software projects across multiple teams
Experience in cloud-based architecture
A strong sense of ownership and responsibility for the quality of the software you create
Empathy for our users and the Rapid7 mission
Relevant experience in software development, including active or recent Java experience
