Are you passionate about empowering developers and streamlining their workflow? Do you thrive on building intuitive tools and solving their biggest pain points? If so, join us as a Software Engineer - Developer Experience & Tooling!

In this role, you'll be the champion of our developers, crafting innovative tools and optimizing their daily experience. You'll work closely with engineers across the organization to understand their needs, identify opportunities for improvement, and design and build solutions that boost their productivity and happiness.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Analyze developer experience: Identify pain points and inefficiencies in the development workflow through surveys, interviews, and data analysis.
  • Design and develop tools: Build internal tools and integrations that automate repetitive tasks, improve collaboration, and enhance the development environment.
  • Champion best practices: Work with R&D Architects/Leads and Pipeline Engineering group to devise best practices for coding, testing, documentation, and collaboration, leading internal workshops/demos and training sessions.
  • Stay ahead of the curve: Research and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in developer tooling and experience, recommending advancements and integrations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Work closely with engineers, product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure tools align with our development strategy and user needs.
  • Measure and iterate: Track the impact of your tools and experience initiatives, collecting feedback and iterating to continuously improve developer effectiveness.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer with a strong understanding of software development principles and practices.
  • Experience building internal or developer-facing tools.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify problems, design innovative solutions and report on the efficacy of thos solutions.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Passion for developer experience and a strong desire to improve developer productivity and well-being.
  • Experience Software Engineering process/practices and an understanding of distributed systems and microservice architecture.
  • An understanding and interest in the UX for developer side tooling.
  • You will have experience working with Engineering Source Code systems including Github, Gitlab, Bitbucket.
  • You will have experience of Infrastructure Platforms – Kubernetes, Openshift.
  • You will have experience working with Cloud Platforms – AWS (Preferred), GCP and Azure.
  • Experience in writing pipelines or workflows in code.
  • Experience working with containers/orchestration tooling – Docker, Kubernetes, Loft, vCluster, Rancher.
  • Experience in automating of building, testing, scanning and deploying software into multiple environments.
  • Practical experience of software delivery practices such as feature flags, zero-downtime deployments and blue-green or canary deployments.
  • Knowledge of security best practices within the software development lifecycle.
  • Strong scripting skills – Bash, Python, Go.
  • Experience working with a cloud native platform – AWS preferred, but also Azure or GCP.
