The Opportunity

We’re looking for a highly motivated and experienced Content Strategist to help create a collaborative and comprehensive workflow that focuses on identifying key business goals and drivers in order to create a comprehensive content and communication strategy that will achieve desired results. As a Content Strategist you will work with our key business partners to develop and strategy and plan to deliver necessary content/communications to our field partners. Working with a team of writers and designers you will drive the development and delivery of various communications methods (portal, written, video, etc.). You will also work to ensure adherence to our strategic goals and standards for content, consistency and appropriate tagging and metadata tracking.

The Team

The Field Content & Communications Team, as part of the broader MassMutual Financial Advisors Organization, is responsible for a creating the overall content and communication strategy for our MMFA field force, working with our business partners to identify their communications needs and key objectives then creating a plan for effective ways to communicate (video, audio, written, online portal content, etc.) clearly and articulately utilizing our defined content strategy approach. We are also responsible for measuring and analyzing our efforts in the spirit of continuous improvement and transparency.

The Impact:

This is a multi-faceted role in which you will be creating and delivering on a plan for producing content that will be used across multiple information channels including our Advisor Portal, written and video communications, as well as training, while adhering to and driving our content strategy best practices.

Our Content Strategists should have a strong background in Content Management and best practices, portal and search capabilities, as well as strong written and verbal communication skills, in addition to the ability to build and develop strong relationships and teams.

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to the following:

  • Help to bridge business requester goals with audience-centric content and channel solutions; build relationships and become a trusted business partner.

  • Work with writers and designers to produce content.

  • Proactively interact with the business requesters and help to define “how” business requesters goals will be achieved.

  • Promote and own audience-centricity.

  • Define use case for content types and help with UX feedback.

  • Understand how to write and interpret content request briefs.

  • Adhere to search engine optimization guidelines and stay up to date on the latest developments on content trends.

  • Proactively identify gaps in content and make updates to older content to meet content standards. Manage content type rubric, adjust as analytics reveal the need for changes and create new content types.

  • Ensure consistency across all content, from the portal to email, training, newsletters, videos and podcasts.

  • Create and maintain a plan of project deadlines and content launch dates, working with content coordinators.

  • Oversee the development and launch of new content channels,

  • Have strong knowledge of the organization’s content strategy, working with governance to make ongoing enhancements.

  • Review field feedback on site satisfaction and act upon it.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5+ year’s UX training or equivalent experience

  • 2+ years’ experience with content management systems, taxonomy and search criteria

The Ideal Qualifications

  • 7+ years with content strategy/portal experience

  • Ability to lead discussions with upper-level management to establish business goals, objectives and KPIs.

  • Collaborate, consult with and influence business partners and readiness leads.

  • Lead a matrixed team of writers and designers to deliver projects with quality and on time.

  • Ability to juggle multiple assignments and stakeholders.

  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills -

  • Ability to follow standards and seek continual performance improvement.

  • Content strategy expertise in financial services.

  • Ability to take abstract business goals and translate to content solutions.

  • Clear, motivating, concise brief writing.

  • Understand the role of various content types and touchpoints (pdf, ppt, webpage, portals, emails, audio/visual, meeting/events).

  • Understand user experience principles, formal UX training.

  • Project Management.

  • Content management system setup and usage.

  • Content modeling experience.

  • Understanding of search engine optimization.

  • Understanding of meta descriptions, tagging and taxonomy.

  • Experience with content and editorial production (creating briefs, managing deadlines, handling production).

  • Ability to think strategically and develop comprehensive narratives that align with audience, business goals.

  • Knowledge of content measurement and reporting metrics, and how to use them to ideate and fuel performance.

Salary Range:

$84,100.00-$110,300.00
